Alabama Musician Walter Nolen-Schmidt | Mobile AL Music Photographer

Had the opportunity to get in contact with a musician that usually spends most of his time in Northern Alabama around the Birmingham area.  Walter is a man of many talents when it comes to the music scene and I was graced with the opportunity to hear him play a number of his instruments during the shoot.

I asked him to provide me with a short bio about how he started on his current path and where he hopes it leads him.  His words are posted below:

I've been playing music for 16 years.  I enjoy playing all sorts of music, from folk to bossa nova to even 70's baroque pop.  I often perform solo utilizing live looping, allowing me to build huge soundscapes using just my voice. I am inspired by almost every era of American songwriting, I often find myself playing 20's standards followed by David Bowie. Speaking of which, in my development as a player, I was inspired by the theatrics and grandiose storytelling of "golden era" of Bowie (think "Space Oddity", "Life on Mars")  The Western esoteric, the Christian mystical tradition, and the poetry of Arthur Rimbaud have all been big themes and influences in my early work and I wish to continue exploring and expanding these themes through not only music, but live performance and film in the coming future.

Here are a few examples of some of my music!

And now, enjoy the images!
