From the moment I talked with Claire, she was on board for the shoot. She wanted to do the shoot in a public location since there was a little skepticism still there, so I suggested that we meet at Washington Park - a small park right behind the cannon in Midtown. It turned out to be a perfect location (with no bums around!) and we ended up with some great shots! That brings up a great point for this project. If you are interested in being included but skeptical around me coming to your home or letting the world know where you live, there are plenty of great spots around Midtown where we can meet up and do a quick photo shoot.
Claire said that she's lived around the Midtown area for about two years but has been in Mobile all her life. She is currently the owner of an online boutique, Bottega, that sells contemporary women's clothing nationwide.
Questions for Claire:
How long have you lived in the Midtown area? 2 years so far.
Do you like it? Yes!
If yes or no, why? I like it because we have more local shoppes around. I'm all about supporting local businesses. Most everything is in the area and I don't have to drive far. I also love the historic homes, they have so much meaning and history within them.
Curve ball question: If 2013 was your last year alive, what would you do right now? If 2013 was my last year alive, I'd pay for everyone in my family, including some loved ones to stay with me in some deserted, tropical island. There's nothing more peaceful than being on the water. And if I had to die, I'd love to die peacefully in a place that truly sets me free with the closest people that I love.
Why were you interested in this photo project? I was interested in the photo project because it's in my blood to help people out. I love doing charities as well.
How could the community as a whole make Midtown even better? I believe we should try and help support local businesses. One thing can lead to another restaurant opening or coffee shop.
Do you have any memorable stories about Midtown? My memorable story about midtown is going to my friend's apartment on Dauphin Street. It was a quadraplex and she was on the top floor. We always sat out on her balcony and watched runners/walkers go by. I also love all the old trees that make this town unique. Drinking wine, eating fruit and talked about life while we sat on the balcony.
Here dog, Bentley, waited patiently in the car till the end of the shoot. I wanted to get some great styled shots with him but when he came out, he was so nervous and shivering that we just snapped a few quick shots and called it for the evening.
