I decided to go visit the Eastern Shore Camera Club meeting a couple of Thursdays ago to hear a local photographer, Michael Chang, speak and I decided to make use of the time beforehand by going out to the Fairhope pier and walking up to a couple of people and asking for their portraits.
I only had time for a few introductions but I will definitely be doing it again. I thought it would be hard going up to people with a gigantic strobe but it seems to answer their curiosity and then they're open to a portrait! Works for me! Here were my favorites from the evening.
The couple in the third shot were super easy to talk to and really had some great stories. I could have stayed with them for a while talking. I didn't write down their names but I'll definitely put my voice recorder to work next time so I get better details.
This last shot was actually my first test shot of the evening and while the light is harsher than I would like, I loved the poor dog's expression - so I had to include it in the post. :)
A definite successful first attempt and motivating enough to do it again when I can find the time!
